A customer reported receiving a call from someone impersonating a PUD customer service representative threatening to shut off power if a large sum of money was not paid. Fortunately the customer recognized the scam for what it was and hung up and notified us about the call. At approximately 8:01pm on Wednesday, January 20, PUD customers in the Sequim area (including all customers east of the Dungeness River) experienced a power outage. This power outage was the result of high winds that caused a transmission line in the Happy Valley area to “trip.” The cause was a tree in the line near the Sunland Substation. 11,802 customers were affected by this. Clallam County PUD #1 (PUD) celebrated the Grand Opening of its new Main Office at 104 Hooker Road in Carlsborg on Saturday, December 12th.
