January 20-21 Sequim Area Power Outage
January 21, 2016

At approximately 8:01pm on Wednesday, January 20, PUD customers in the Sequim area (including all customers east of the Dungeness River) experienced a power outage.  This power outage was the result of high winds that caused a transmission line in the Happy Valley area to “trip.”  The cause was a tree in the line near the Sunland Substation.  11,802 customers were affected by this.

PUD crews patrolled the lines, and with information from the Bonneville Power Administration, were able to isolate the cause and restore power at 10:22pm to many customers.

Customers in a section of the Sunland Subdivision and North of Sunland remained without power until about 11:10pm.

About 862 customers in South Central and West Sequim had power restored in sections between 2:30am and 3:30am.

There was a separate high wind weather related outage west of the Blyn area that affected 384 customers from about 1:30am to 4:00am.

Several other small outages related to high winds were also addressed.  All customers had power restored by about 5:20am.

The PUD thanks you for your patience as our crews worked in the inclement weather to restore power.  To report an outage, please call 360-452-9771 or 800-542-7859.  You can also visit the PUD web site information on how to report power outages, how to update your emergency information, and how to plan for emergencies.
