Former PUD Commissioner Hugh Haffner Passes
Former Clallam PUD Commissioner Hugh Haffner passed away on February 15, 2020 from complications related to a stroke. He was 72 years old.
Haffner was born on September 26, 1947 in Chicago, IL. He married Diane Knickerbocker in 1985. Most of his life he worked as an attorney, focusing on bankruptcy work. As PUD Commissioner he represented Clallam County PUD District 2 for 24 years, from 1994 to 2018.
Commissioner Will Purser recalled “It was my pleasure to serve on the PUD Commission with Hugh Haffner. Hugh always had a ready smile and laugh. He represented the interest of PUD customers and the community with his extensive background in law, accounting and public life. He shared his pride in his family with stories of his home life and vacations. He will be missed.”
PUD General Manager Doug Nass, commented “Hugh contributed many years as a Commissioner to the success of the PUD. We are saddened by his passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Diane and his children.”
Hugh is survived by his wife, Diane, with whom he adopted and raised four children.
