Chlorine concentrations in the Clallam Bay Sekiu Water System 10/28/24
October 29, 2024

On Monday morning CPUD water operators identified an equipment malfunction in the Clallam Bay Sekiu Water System which caused water to be produced with higher concentrations of chlorine than is typical for this water system. After correcting the issue, operators worked efficiently throughout the day testing water and completing strategic flushing operations to minimize the delivery of this water with higher concentration to customers. Some customers may have received water with different taste or odor characteristics than is typical for this system. Water Department staff notified the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) the same day. DOH did not direct the CPUD Water Department to take any additional action. Additional water testing on 10/29/24 indicates that chlorine concentrations are normal throughout the system.
