PUD Earns Clean Bill of Health from State Auditor
The Washington State Auditor’s Office has given Clallam County PUD #1 a favorable report on its operational and financial management. The latest accountability audit report, presented to PUD Commissioners at its January 25, 2016, Commission meeting covers the period of January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014.
According to the report, “District operations complied with applicable requirements and provided adequate safeguarding of public resources. The District also complied with state laws and regulations and its own policies and procedures in the areas we examined.”
Will Purser, PUD Commission President said the report from the Washington State Auditor shows the success of the utility’s operations, and the good work it does providing services to its customers and managing public resources with the integrity expected by customers. Purser said, “this report reflects the good work of all 140 employees of Clallam PUD. As a public utility it is our job to be good stewards of the trust placed in us by the citizens of our service area.”
The audit, according to a letter from State Auditor Troy Kelley, “provides essential accountability and transparency for District operations. This information is valuable to management, the governing body and public stakeholders when assessing the government’s stewardship of public resources.”
