Update 2 (3:16pm)
More specific information from prior posts:
At approximately 1:44pm, BPA experienced equipment issues at the Sappho Substation that resulted in loss of power to PUD customers from Joyce out to Neah Bay, including Forks.
The Joyce area was restored at approximately 2:40pm.
BPA will be conducting tests in order to make any repairs necessary to get power restored to the remaining 5400 customers as soon as possible.
The soonest we expect power to be restored is within 5 hours, or approximately 8:00pm. It is possible that the tests determine that there is damage to equipment, in which case, power may not be restored up to 24 hours.
We will update this post as soon as additional information becomes available.
Update 1 (2:50pm):
There are an estimated 5347 customers being impacted by this outage throughout the West end of the county.
According to BPA, the outage will last anywhere from 4-24 hours.
The PUD continues to be in communication with BPA.
