The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office — Emergency Management Division looks to update the county’s Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, a federally approved plan that examines the vulnerable hazards faced in the area and identifies ideas on projects to prepare and mitigate the danger to the community and perhaps reduce damage to infrastructure.
A draft of the Hazard Mitigation Plan is available for review and comment at https://www.clallamcountywa.gov/1822/Hazard-Mitigation-Plan-Update. Comments are open until Dec. 31.
Staff said the plan helps entities received funding to help mitigate for disasters, the county receive Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding in the event of a disaster, and lays a plan down on paper as to what should be done in the event of an emergency.
