POSITION: Substation Technician
STATUS: Regular, Full-time, Non-Exempt Represented Position
WORK WEEK: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
SUPERVISOR: Transmission & Substation Systems Supervisor
RATE OF PAY: $51.43 per hour (effective 5/1/20 to 4/30/21)
CLOSE DATE: Until position is filled.

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Perform installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of electric and substation equipment in a manner that ensures economical use of vehicles, materials and equipment to facilitate accomplishment of the District’s mission.

Candidates’ abilities and qualifications will be evaluated using examinations to determine math and reading skills; ability to understand and follow instructions and solve problems; technical knowledge; and physical ability to perform job functions.
Candidates’ abilities and qualifications will be evaluated using the supplemental information form and an interview to determine: technical knowledge of relaying and substation work practices; knowledge of live line maintenance; ability to operate job-related vehicles, tools and equipment; ability to use electric system test equipment; knowledge of accident prevention rules and regulations; ability to train others; knowledge of first aid and traffic control; ability to read maps and blueprints; communication skills; ability to make decisions; and other skills and abilities needed to fulfill the requirements of this position.
Candidates will be evaluated using work history, letters of recommendation, and education/training courses completed.
Based upon these evaluations, District Management will make the selection.
