Power Outage: Sequim 6/3/16

UPDATE 6:05pm Power was restored to all customers at approximately 5:55pm Original Post: At approximately 4:45pm a power outage occurred in Sequim affecting about 800 customers South of Sequim. American Council Fellow Visits PUD

PUD Commissioners were pleased to have a special guest at their May 23, 2016, business meeting. Mr. Seymur Aliyev is the Head of the Division of the Civil Service Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  Mr. Aliyev is a Fellow for at American Councils, a nonprofit organization that works with the US State Department on the hosting of legislative fellows in the US. West End Planned Power Outage, May 22

PLANNED POWER OUTAGE There is a planned outage on Sunday, May 22, 2016 required by BPA to install a mobile substation in order to perform major construction this summer at their Sappho Substation. A second outage is planned for Sunday, September 25, 2016 to remove this mobile substation.  A notice will be sent prior to the second outage. Commissioners Adopt Resolution Opposing I-732

The Clallam County PUD Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution opposing Initiative 732, the Carbon Pollution Tax, at their May 9, 2016, Board meeting. Commissioners received a presentation about I-732 at their May 2, 2016, meeting where the impacts to the utility were discussed. I-732 will be on the November 2016 ballot and ultimately taxes carbon emissions. Community Solar Project Update

Clallam County PUD’s proposed Community Solar Project’s participation achieved 85%, but did not receive enough interest within the allotted time to fund and initiate the Project without further discussion.  The Board of Commissioners is scheduled to discuss the Project, including whether or not to proceed with construction, at their May 23rd meeting. PUD and Forks Partner to Improve Lighting / Energy Efficiency

Clallam PUD’s lighting rebate program helped the City of Forks successfully complete its streetlight LED Conversion Project at no direct cost to the City. Converting the old high pressure sodium and metal halide streetlights to more energy efficient LED lights will save the City of Forks an estimated 149,000 kWh per year in energy savings, equaling $9,000 per year in utility bill savings as well as an additional estimated $5,000 in maintenance savings.
