POSITION: Accountant
HEADQUARTERS: Carlsborg
STATUS: Regular, Full-time, Exempt Staff Position
WORK WEEK: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
SUPERVISOR: Controller/Auditing Officer
RATE OF PAY: Range 20 ($5,402 – $7,662 per month)

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Prepare accurate, reliable and timely financial statements, tax and other financial reports. Ensure the accurate recording of all District transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP). Prepare monthly journal entries to maintain and reconcile the general and subsidiary ledgers. Monitor the accuracy of the accounting systems and assist in the development of effective internal controls. Prepare accurate, reliable and timely financial statements, tax and other financial reports.

Candidates’ abilities and qualifications will be evaluated using examinations to determine: accounting skills, typing, 10-key, math and reading skills; and ability to learn, understand instructions and solving problems.

Candidates’ abilities and qualifications will be evaluated using a cognitive test, a technical test, supplemental questionnaire and an interview to determine: knowledge and experience with interpreting and applying GAAP, financial accounting from journal entries to financial statement development, cost accounting, applying present value concept, inventory accounting and work order accounting; computer and spreadsheet skills; teamwork skills; independent works skills; communication skills; and other skills and abilities needed to fulfill the requirements of this position.

Based upon these evaluations, District Management will make the selection.
