POSITION: Operations Assistant – Special Purpose/ Apprentice Lineman
HEADQUARTERS: Carlsborg
STATUS: Regular, Full-time, Non-exempt Represented Position
WORK WEEK: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
SUPERVISOR: Operations Superintendent
RATE OF PAY: 1st 6 months $17.99 (effective 5/1/2009)
2nd 6 months $20.48 (effective 5/1/2009)
3rd 6 months $23.11 (effective 5/1/2009)
After 18 month $25.45 (effective 5/1/2009)
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the position will be to provide on-the-job training and experience to employees who elect to enter a career path towards becoming a journey level electrical worker and who have no previous related training and/or no experience. This position will provide training and experience that will better prepare them for entry into an Apprenticeship.
REQUIREMENTS: The District expects all employees to provide high quality and reliable service to its customers. To accomplish this, a high standard of professionalism, cooperation, and team effort between individual employees, as well as among all departments, is required. Must have a safe driving record and obtain within six months in position, a valid Washington State driver's license with Commercial Class A and air brake endorsements. Graduation from Lineman College is preferred. The attached Letter of Understanding (06-01) details the specific conditions and requirements. To be considered a candidate for this position, applicants must meet the requirements contained in the Letter of Understanding (06-01).
SELECTION PROCESS: Applicants must complete and submit an employment application and supplemental questionnaire, along with copies of relevant professional and training certificates.
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the Lineman’s Apprenticeship program and may have to also successfully complete the Lineman’s Apprenticeship Qualification Exercise.
Candidates’ abilities and qualifications will be evaluated using a cognitive test; technical test, supplemental questionnaire; work history; credit, criminal and background check, employment references and recommendations; education, certifications and training courses completed; and an interview to determine skills and abilities needed to fulfill the requirements of this position.
Based upon these evaluations, District Management will make the selection.
